The surge of oil and gas production along America’s Gulf Coast created a skilled labor shortage, including the millwrights needed to install and maintain mechanical operations. The United Brotherhood of Carpenters anticipated this shortage and began prepping to alleviate it years ago. As a result, thousands of highly skilled, credentialed, professional UBC millwrights are ready to deploy. Each learned from the same standardized training curriculum, which means that new hires are just as skilled as experienced local millwrights.

Training Spotlight: Compressors

At the Gulf Coast Millwright Training Center in Houston, a section of the 53,000 square feet of training space houses two reciprocating compressors. The 40-hour compressor training class covers every level of compressors: Basic knowledge of compressors and how they work, disassembly and problem diagnosis, and reassembly to exact specifications.

At the International Training Center in Las Vegas, our Train the Trainer program prepares instructors to teach the compressors curriculum back in local jurisdictions where needed. This guarantees the same curriculum and practices are consistent across the country.

UBC Certified Rigger and Signaler Program Accredited

Our Certified Rigger and Signaler Program is now accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agency. The certification exceeds all requirements for riggers and signalers in the USA and Canada.
